Hybrid Driver : Fusing Dynamic Power With Balanced Precision

Kotori Audio identified optimal driver configurations through extensive prototype testing. They selected a premium driver offering superior acoustics and compatibility with balanced armature technology, though requiring precise air pressure management. The final design incorporates a 10mm dynamic driver for low frequencies paired with a balanced armature driver for mids and highs. Their proprietary dynamic driver features a titanium membrane, chosen for its exceptional mechanical properties. The high stiffness modulus enables swift response times, precise detail reproduction, and accurate transient handling.

The Core of Clarity: Kotori’s Pressure Balanced Acoustic System

At the heart of ZEPHYR lies the innovative Pressure Balanced Acoustic System (PBAS), which seamlessly integrates a custom dynamic driver with a Knowles balanced armature tweeter. The balanced armature's compact design delivers quick, precise high frequencies while complementing the dynamic driver's performance. Using a modified DAUNTLESS base body and semi-custom shell design, ZEPHYR achieves both wearing comfort and optimal acoustics. To address the common issue of muddy sound caused by conventional IEM venting, Kotori Audio developed the "Balancer Tube" - a precision-engineered stainless steel component manufactured to incredibly fine tolerances (under 30 micrometres). This innovative two-way air pressure regulator works in harmony with internal 3D structures and careful damping to create the complete PBAS, ensuring consistent air pressure and superior sound quality.

Sealed Acoustic Chamber For Passive Noise Isolation At Its Best

Kotori Audio ZEPHYR incorporates an innovative inter-chamber pressure relief system that connects the front and rear driver sections through its precision-engineered balancer tube. They utilised a pressure equalisation system that removes vacuum pressure at the back vent, optimising the dynamic driver's performance. Through reduced mechanical resistance, the driver gains enhanced freedom of movement, resulting in pristine audio clarity and improved transient response. This system successfully eliminates driver flex issues, ensuring consistent and precise sound reproduction across the frequency spectrum. Additionally, ZEPHYR's sealed acoustic chamber design delivers excellent passive noise isolation, creating an immersive listening environment.

A Faceplate That Stands Apart, Inspired By Bauhaus

In order to honour ZEPHYR, the faceplate needed to express more than just functionality. The personification of the westerly wind, while creating a unique, recognisable shape that would stand apart from other IEMs in the market. Taking an abstract approach and created an image without conventional form. Inspired by Bauhaus' geometric style, particularly hexagons, the design evolved into a mathematical concept, a pure expression of formlessness. To incorporate the wind motif, they twisted the hexagonal shape to resemble the vortex pattern that forms when air flows around a stationary object.

Comes Bundled With Premium OFC CARBON-3 Cable

Kotori Audio ZEPHYR comes bundled with high-quality CARBON-3 cable equipped with silver-plated Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) Litz conductors and 28 AWG with 2x2 core. The cable is further enhanced with smooth, flexible, and durable insulation, offering improved comfort and ergonomics. It features gold-plated right angle TRS 3.5mm termination and 2-pin 0.78mm connectors for easy cable upgradation.
